PlaySafe LLC is a global recreational consulting and playground service provider supporting numerous government agencies, private organizations, and schools. Founded in 1997 by Sam “Butch” DeFillippo, this company aids its customers in the design, purchase and installation of the safety playground equipment. Based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, PlaySafe has certifications as National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) and National Recreation and Park Association Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP). They are members of the National Executive Development School Advisory Board, National Risk Management & Safety School Planning Committee, and NRPA Playground Maintenance Service Course’s Curriculum Task Force. They have won many national and state awards including NRPA-PIN Department Program Brochure Recognition and New Mexico Recreation and Park Association Park/Bike Paths Design Award.

PlaySafe services include inventory and audit of playground equipment, surfacing, and installation. They integrate the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), and the ASTM International (ASTM) in the design of playgrounds. The PlaySafe staff is trained to perform with an ASTM F1292 Standards Committee approved Free Fall Surface Testing System. This enables them to test safety surfacing and insure it complies with ASTM F1292. PlaySafe is committed to playground safety.1

Additional services and training are provided in the arenas of aquatic safety and risk management, playground planning services, fundraising, and grant writing. Aquatic training workshops encompass numerous subjects including emergency action plans, hazardous communications, chemical use and storage, and employee safety. They analyze and develop risk management procedures that meet all required city, state and federal guidelines. PlaySafe provides certification training for Certified Pool and Spa Operators.2
